About splashtemp.ca
Splashtemp is a free pool finder for families, lane swimmers, people who need warm water and anyone planning a swim. It puts water temperatures, swim times, features and photos for public pools on one map, for Canada.
Where the data comes from
- Overture Maps Places (CDLA-Permissive-2.0) for some Canadian listings.
- OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL) for pool locations, names and addresses in Canada.
- Municipal open data and official city pages: Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal, Winnipeg, Vancouver (listings), Regina and Hamilton/London/Mississauga booking pages, plus several Alberta operators such as YMCA Calgary.
- Parks Canada for Banff Upper Hot Springs and Miette Hot Springs: hours, prices and published water temperatures, each linked to the Parks Canada page.
Honest limits
- Temperatures are not live readings. “Published” means the operator states a figure. “Typical” comes from an older reference database. “Estimated” is a default of 28 °C used when nothing is published, and every page says which one you are looking at.
- Swim times are loaded for some cities only. Where we have none, each pool links to its own official page.
- Many Canadian listings are location listings only. Some may be private, school, club or residential pools, and are marked when public access is not verified.
- Schedules change, and pools close without warning. Always check with the facility.
Keeping it accurate
Schedules are refreshed from their sources every day, and the page for each pool shows when its data was last read. Spot an error or a missing pool? Let us know.
